This is an opportunity for CYO and Parochial League Teams to play in a tournament to decide an end-of-season Champion.  The March Madness tournament doesn’t conflict with CYO and Parochial League end-of-season tournaments.

Games will be played at St. Thomas Aquinas HS, Sion HS, Avila University, and St. Thomas Moore.

A portion of the proceeds will be going to Catholic Charities.

The tournament is approved by CYO and the Parochial League but is not affiliated with either one.

Coach Huber

COACH JIM HUBER

I have over 30 years of coaching experience at the youth, high school, and college levels. I have developed and coached some of the best players in the world. Some of my former elite student-athletes are now playing for the NBA while others have gone on to play at some of the best college programs in the nation such as Michigan State, Duke, and Kentucky.

I have devoted a large portion of my professional career to developing youth through sports. I have been instrumental in helping more than 70 high school student-athletes earn college scholarships.

I am a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas where I was a three-year varsity starter earning honorable mention All-State honors my senior year. I then went on to play at Allen County Community College and Avila University. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication with an emphasis in Business and an MBA in Marketing from Avila.

In 2010, I led the expansion of  MOKAN, a Kansas City basketball program, to include programming for those in third through eighth grade more than doubling the opportunities MOKAN provided to area youth. As head coach of the MOKAN 17U team, I led my group to earn a spot in the prestigious Nike Peach Jam tournament held in N. Augusta, S.C. in July 2013.

In 2013, I was named Director of Coach and Camp Curriculum Development at Breakthrough Basketball. I have helped Breakthrough Basketball grow to conducting over 300+ nationwide camps and reaching 12,000 + campers yearly.

I am passionate about basketball not just for the love of the sport, but because of the opportunities it creates to make a huge positive impact in the lives of the players!

Tim Waris

COACH TIM WARIS

I have been coaching basketball since 2004 at the grade school and high school levels.

I started the Bill Waris Blue Jays Basketball Club in 2007 after my Father passed away. He attended Creighton University and always named his teams after them.

We have successfully run youth tournaments since 2007 raising over $500,000 to help feed the poor at the Saint James Food pantry. We also provided
proceeds for educational opportunities at area grade and high schools.

I have coached boys and girls at the Parochial League grade school since 2007 winning 9 City championships with Our Lady of the Presentation and
Saint Thomas More. I spent two years coaching the C team and JV girls at Notre Dame de Sion High School. I am currently the Freshman boys basketball coach at Saint Michael’s the Archangel High School in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
